Archie and I had a great time in Branson at the retired (Archie) minister’s retreat. It’s nice to
begin each day with worship. It just sets a good tone for the day. Then we saw some shows and
enjoyed the food. It was a good prayerful and relaxing time away.
When I returned this was in my email from my cousin, JC Dollar, who is also a pastor. Just
thought I would share this with you.
Pastors Can Dream
Here are some things that a Pastor dreams of hearing (or overhearing) in his/her church.
- Hey! It’s my turn to sit in the front pew.
- I was so enthralled, I never noticed your sermon went 25 minutes over
time. - Personally I find working at the Sunday spaghetti luncheon much more
enjoyable than golf. (I might change this to Turkey Supper!) - I’ve decided to give our church the $500 a month I normally spend on buying
figurines from QVC. - I volunteer to be the permanent teacher for the Junior High Sunday School class.
- I love it when we sing hymns I’ve never heard before!
- Since we’re all here, let’s start the service early.
- Pastor, we’d like to send you to this Bible seminar in the Bahamas on the church’s dime.
- Nothing inspires me and strengthens my commitment like our annual stewardship campaign!
- I couldn’t find space to park outside. Praise God!
This Sunday please tell your Pastor how much they are appreciated, and try sitting in the front
pew for a change.
Now on a more serious note – I would like for us to meet together on Tuesday evenings to talk
about our vision as a church. I will be preaching about this on Sunday the 3rd and hopefully we
will be able to begin to envision what our future at Emmanuel will be. I would like for us to look
at this biblically and prayerfully. We must come together and study and discuss this issue
deciding where we want to go and what we must do to get there. I would like to begin these
discussions on Nov 5th at 7:00pm. I pray that all of us consider this a very important matter
and are willing and anxious to offer a bit of time for Emmanuel.
Praying for a rich harvest for all! Blessings!
