From the Pastor’s Desk

Welcome Summer!

I re-read my newsletter article from June 2020 before I wrote this.  It was all about our returning to in-person worship services in May, and our first service was the celebration of the season of Pentecost. Coincidently, we celebrated Pentecost May 23rd, 2021 and ushered in the intoxicating effect of the Holy Spirit!

Throughout our pandemic months, when times were crucial to our health and well-being, Emmanuel UCC continued to follow CDC guidelines, and our church continued to thrive. This I believe was due to our commitment to holiness and desire for our church to continue forward.  I also quoted in the June 2020 the words of Joshua.  Joshua 1:9 states, Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

This verse has helped my family and I, and our congregation to have continued faith in God knowing that he is always with us, especially in times of need. Psalm 27:1 reads,The Lord is my light and my salvation—so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? The list goes on and on as we recognize the Holy Bible as a source of faith, courage, and comfort.

On Sunday May 23rd, 2021 we held our monthly consistory meeting.  The bulk of the meeting focused on future events for our church.  In addition to upkeeping the high standards of worship, the consistory has some exciting and wonderful activities for you, our congregation, as well as the community.  Food sales, a car show, beautifying our church building, and finally the unfolding of something new, bingo!

We have been and continue to be strong and courageous! We are not frightened and dismayed as God is with us.  I thank God for you all.  Your hard work and commitment to the church of Jesus Christ has and is an inspiration to me and the ministry I provide.

So, let’s keep our communication open, our dedication strong, and our praying constant throughout these summer months. God Bless you and thank you.
