Crop Walk Refreshments

Anyone who is willing to bring some baked goods or other refreshments for the walkers is asked to please leave them on the counter in the Fellowship Hall on Oct 2. Your help is needed to “energize” the walkers before and “recharge” them after their walk.

CROP HUNGER WALK – OCTOBER 2

Emmanuel will again be the starting and ending point for our annual CROP Walk on October 2. Registration will be at 12:30 pm with the walk starting at 1:00 pm. The funds raised will be sent to Church World Service. Thirty seven denominations and communions partner with CWS to provide sustainable self-help, development, disaster relief, and refugee assistance around the world. I have registered our walk online at www.crophungerwalk.org/wapwallopenpa for anyone who would like to donate online. I don’t think we ever did this before, but it might be an extra way to raise funds. That information is on the donation envelopes, too. As you may know, 25% of money raised comes back to us to fund the Wapwallopen Crossroads Ministerium Food Bank. We are currently helping one elderly gentleman and several families. They come regularly for food and are very grateful for the assistance they receive from us. Youth and adults from our churches will be looking for sponsors. Emmanuel’s walkers so far are: Morgan Hodle, Leah Dietrich, Connie Davis and Rev. Stout. Please support their enthusiastic and dedicated effort to provide hunger relief by donating to the CROP Walk.

In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock at night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood near them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened. And so the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. — Luke 2:8-11 (NASV)
