The Alberdeen “cleaning crew” are pictured again picking up the trash that accumulates from unthinking passersby who just throw junk out the window or, worse yet, dump their tires and other large stuff. The Alberdeen Road has been one of our service projects since 1993 – 23 years! Maybe someday people will stop trashing it and we will have to look for another project. But until then, let’s give a big THANK YOU to the volunteers!
There were plenty of talented youth at the Rice Elementary Talent Show on March 19. Showing off their skills were Kelsy Rinehimer, Paige Ceaser and Leah Dietrich. Fantastic show-offs! (see you ALL at the Talent in Bloom!)
Our Turkey Supper on April 16 was another big success. The Hall was really hopping and the takeouts were flying out the door. Pictured at the counter as she is getting the delicious food for the tables is Terri Belanchik, one of the dedicated volunteers who make this fundraiser possible. Everyone who comes together for this event is to be complimented on their enthusiasm and commitment.
BINGO!! The Comet Baseball Booster Club had a bingo fundraiser with Robert and Carol Duffy marking off their cards. What a fun way to spend some family time and support local sports.
Teachers and staff got to dress down for the Jeans for Genes day at Rice Elementary. Anyone who donated to the Xtreme Hike to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation showed their support by wearing jean to work on March 22. Paige Ceaser and Leah Dietrich organized the fundraiser with the help of Ms. Finn and Ms. Humphries.
Justin Rinehimer is pictured with students who represented the Pennsylvania College of Technology horticulture at the 40th Annual National Collegiate Landscape Competition held at Mississippi State University. Hey, Justin, got any good ideas for my garden?
Safety was the theme of the Two Mountains District First Aid event at College Misericordia on April 2. Boy Scouts from around the area participated, including our Troop 434. They showed their knowledge in safety, preventative safety and first aid. Aaron Kleger is a member of Troop 434 and pictured with the Scouts who participated.
Two members of Boy Scout Troop 434 attained the rank of Eagle Scout this year. Not only are the members of the same troop, but they’re also members of the same family. Cody and Zack Fisher both led projects that enhanced a facility dear to their hearts. Cody, a Junior Firefighter, organized the repainting of the exterior of the Wright Township Fire Hall. One of Zack’s passions is soccer, so he organized the building of picnic tables at the Mountain Top Soccer Multiplex.
