2012 VBS – Bible Seas

What a wonderful adventure we had at this year’s vacation bible school!!  We had a great time exploring the Bible with the help of our underwater friends, Polly Pufferfish, Stacy Starfish, Oscar Octopus, Randi Rainbowfish, Craig Crab and Tina Turtle. Polly (Judy Brown) guided ocean biologist, Muriel (Pastor Penny), who’s name means Bright as the Sea, all through Bible Seas. Each day Polly introduced Muriel a new sea creature (puppeted by Denise Betz or Jill Bernetski) who revealed the Scripture Treasure for the day and the Bible Verse. The imaginative Undersea Crafts were created by Sally Lazarowicz and Christine Kellow, assisted by Julie and Theresa Kellow and various parents and grandparents as needed (thank you so much!). The Splish Splash Games were planned and carried out by Judy Brown and Jill Bernetski. Kimmy Bernetski was in charge of Come and Sea Discovery Bay and the ladies of Faith UMC made delicious snacks at the Dive-In Diner. The artistic talents of Dwain Straight provided music on CD for us to sing with and Glynis Dean created the posters of the Scripture Treasures and Bible Verses. The songs at Sing and Play Splash and lessons at Deep Bible Adventures were handled by me. Dive Leaders Dylan Brown, Jacob Betz, Nathan Kamowski, Morgan Rinehimer, Michelle Bernetski and Rachael Betz lead their divers through the different activity centers. Ginny Hildebrand and Donna Walck were kept busy minding the youngest divers, the Small Fry. Once again, our VBS was exciting, fun and inspiring. The young divers were enthusiastic and looked forward to coming each day. It is a real thrill to see such passion from the adults passed on to the kids. Thank you to all who made this year’s VBS possible.

In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock at night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood near them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened. And so the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. — Luke 2:8-11 (NASV)
